In the Life of 2012 Apprentices!
Here's what some of our fabulous 2012 apprentices are up to!
Emilie was an assistant for the 2012 apprenticeship. This past season she worked on a strawbale home in Driggs, Idaho. She plans to continue her path as a natural builder and hopes to be working on some projects in Michigan next summer.
Kelly returned to NC and spent the summer putting more finishing touches on the 2012 apprenticeship cottage and doing some cool natural building projects, including a community cob oven and a community cob bike rack. She is founder of Natural By-Design.
Kate returned to her new hometown of Austin ,TX and immediately was hired by Clay Sand Straw and has been working on strawbale houses ever since.
Virginia recently joined the Clay Sand Straw team in Austin, TX to build strawbale houses.
Karen has been super busy building since the apprenticeship timber framing, assisting Liz with her work on Nicaragua with earthen building, working on her first strawbale project this past year in Driggs, ID, and freelancing around NC with all things mud and timber. She is founder of Build Like a Bird Natural Building.
Britt continues to follow her passion for nature photography.
Kate became manager of a wonderful bakery in Flat Rock, NC and plans to hike the Pacific Crest Trail next year and scheme her next life adventure.
Lindsey was an assistant for the 2012 apprenticeship and is now building her own strawbale house in Driggs, Idaho and doing design work and community based projects. She is founder of Re:Gen Designs.
